What is Art?

Art is not just something that people sit and talk about in cafes.  It is real.  It’s part of the world, and it is also important.  People need to wake up and smell the turpentine, because art matters, and funding for it is important.  The arts of a nation help reflect the spirit of its people, define their culture, and set standards for upholding the greater ideals of humankind.  Therefore let us continue to further the arts and to be sure that funding for them, visual, performance, or otherwise, is not lowered on the list of priorities in America. Everything and anything can be art. From the metal can in your recycle bin to your direct tv packages advertisement.  We can give the people of the future the gift of art today.
